Bab

Just Food Manchester - Bab

I had the pleasure of being invited to Bab to try their kebabs with a few foodie friends!

Bab is located in the heart of the northern quarter on Little Lever Street. Their ethos is all about bringing vibrant flavours and locally sourced ingredients to your plate. Apart from elevating the humble kebab, they also offer a selection of non-babs, meze dishes and desserts.

Drinks

Bab Negroni /£8.5

I went for the Bab Negroni, their spin on the popular Italian cocktail. I don’t really have much to say, it tasted pleasant and wasn’t too harsh to drink. There is a lot of alcohol in it so bear that in mind if you are having a few!

Sides

Greek Fries / £4

The Greek Fries were definitely the star of the show for me. Wonderfully crisp and incredibly flavourful, I had no complaints. The Tzatziki, feta and olives complimented the fries. The addition of chilli sauce was nice, but a little on the mild side for my liking.

Main

Pork Souvlaki / £9.5

Having had a look at the menu before our visit, I was thinking £10 for kebab is pretty pricy? I am sure I would not be the only one. With that in mind, I wanted to try the Pork Souvlaki, something that I had plenty of times when I visited Greece.

They were served to us open, showcasing all of the fabulous ingredients. The Main challenge was wrapping it up to eat! The pork was cooked exceptionally well and seasoned just right. The addition of pickled onions and pork scratchings enhanced the dish tremendously, with different textures and flavours it certainly was welcomed.

Recommendation

You definitely need to try this place! The food was delicious, better than I expected. However, for the portion size, it is a little pricey at pretty much £10 a bab! The best time to visit would be during their happy hour where you can get a Beer ‘N’ Bab for £12 as well as a host of discounted booze!
